Dover Street Market has announced an Adidas Samba sneaker with very little notice.
The renowned boutique will take on the trendy sneaker with a surprise release confirmed for Thursday. Although the Dover Street Market x Adidas Samba may appear familiar at first glance, it carries small details to subtly declare itself.
Black dominates the Samba from the top down, not just in its usual spots you’d find it on the staple colorway, but now on the mustache and cupsole as well. Mismatched tongue tags see Dover Street Market’s logo take over the left shoe, and another branding hit appears on the right for mismatched insoles.
As minimal as the changes are, they’re par for the course for Dover Street Market and its parent company in Comme des Garçons and their collaborations with the likes of Nike, New Balance and more. That being said, the price tag could also come in well north of what you may expect, as they’re also known for jacking up the prices on their collabs.

Adidas has been ramping up its Samba collaborations lately, as Dingyun Zhang, Pharrell’s Humanrace and Kith have all dropped their own variants already in May. Wales Bonner, a crucial player in the Samba’s ascension, is also turning its attention to the retooled Samba Millennium from 2009 later this month.
The Dover Street Market x Adidas Samba will release Thursday, May 16, through Dover Street Market’s E-Shop and worldwide stores. Pricing has not yet been announced.
