New Balance has never been hotter and golf participation has climbed in recent years. Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy are marrying the best of both worlds with an exclusive shoe release.
“The golf category has been on an upward trajectory for years and what people wear casually in their daily lives is closely aligning with what they want on the golf course. Our exclusive partnership with New Balance is a strategic move because they recognize the lifestyle influence permeating golf,” Jonathan Walsh, director of brand for golf at Dick’s Sporting Goods, told FN.
This month, the sporting goods retailer and its golf-focused banner will exclusively release two new golf shoes from New Balance. One look is the 327 golf shoe for women, done in collaboration with Calia, the Dick’s Sporting Goods activewear brand for women. The second look is the men’s New Balance Heritage golf shoe.
The 327 model, which blends retro and modern style, is a favorite among sneaker consumers today. The golf iteration for women was created to be both stabile and supportive, and feature comfort-focused insoles. Also, the look is built with waterproof microfiber leather uppers and spikeless outsoles for traction “from the course to the clubhouse.” The shoes will arrive in one colorway, which is white and gray and finished with classic gum outsoles. The shoe will retail for $110.
“Calia launched their first golf apparel line in 2022 with the desire to design products that blend function and fashion. So, when it came time to identify a footwear partner, New Balance was a natural choice,” Walsh said. “With this footwear collaboration, we are providing women with an elevated, fashionable golf shoe that does not compromise on performance.”
And the men’s New Balance Heritage golf shoe, Dick’s Sporting Goods explained, is “built for the golfer seeking the true New Balance look and feel on or off the course.” They’re equipped with responsive and plush DynaSoft midsoles, as well as Ndurance rubber outsoles designed to move naturally with the wearer’s foot. For the golf course, New Balance added Fast Twist 3.0 Pulsar replaceable cleats. They will be available in two colorways: one in the brand’s iconic gray palette and a second in white, gray and black with pops of tan. Retail price is set at $140.
Aside from the aforementioned 327 and Heritage styles, Walsh confirmed Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy will offer exclusive colorways for the golf iteration of the iconic 574 sneaker.
Both the New Balance x Calia 327 for women and the men’s Heritage golf shoes arrive Jan. 15 in Dick’s Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy stores, as well as online via Dickssportinggoods.com and Golfgalaxy.com.
