Devin Booker’s newly launched signature sneaker is getting its most elaborate treatment yet.

Taking inspiration from Booker’s love of hiking, the Nike Book 1 “Hike” takes on four different snakeskin patterns across its upper. The toe tip, tongue and heel counter make a realistic imitation in olive green, while the quarter and heel pull feature another lifelike pattern in grey. Olive green suede then takes on a scaly texture for the vamp and eyestays, and the Swoosh features a similar look in grey.

A furry collar deviates from the snakeskin in a slightly darker shade of green, and the sneaker is completed with an olive sole unit broken up partially with orange on the outsole.

This premium makeup for the Book 1 will be third wide release for the silhouette, following two tonal colorways in grey and cream that launched in February. Technically, the sneaker made its debut with a “Clay Orange” iteration in December, but only 800 pairs dropped in Miami during Art Basel — one of several decisions that’s drawn criticism around Booker’s first signature sneaker.

Booker himself even tacitly agreed with the complaints through an Instagram comment, as observers have also lamented over how long the rollout has taken and how much of the shoe’s DNA is in past models rather than being brand-new. It’s unclear which, if not all, of those lines of criticism he supports, however.

The Nike Book 1 “Hike” will release April 6 through the Snkrs app and additional retailers. Pricing is set at $150, which is reflective of the higher quality materials used compared to other versions of the shoe released so far.
