A special day for NFL prospect Shedeur Sanders called for special sneakers. During the Colorado Buffaloes pro day Friday, the projected first round pick showed off his quarterback skills to NFL teams, reportedly generating considerable interest from the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants. While his destination in the pros will remain undetermined until the NFL Draft on April 24, Nike made sure Sanders was prepared to perform in style with exclusive editions of his father’s signature sneakers.
Both Deion Sanders’ Nike Air DT Max ’96 trainers and the Vapor Edge DT ’96 cleats were given matching makeovers in gray and glittery silver for the rising football star. Ahead of the pre-draft workout, Shedeur arrived in a silver Nike tracksuit bearing his signature logo, a matching metallic silver Louis Vuitton Keepall duffel bag and the silver Air DT Max ’96 sneakers. And during pro day action, the youngest Sanders son laced up the Vapor Edge DT ’96 cleats, also in metallic silver.
Images shared by Nike’s @usnikefootball account show details of the personalized Air DT Max ’96 sneakers. Along with their unique glitter finish, the shoes use an icy translucent rubber outsole which features Shedeur’s logo showing through the visible Air unit window.
Shedeur participated in pro day alongside fellow Buffaloes star and top draft prospect Travis Hunter. Most mock draft projections currently slot Hunter in the top two picks behind Miami quarterback Cam Ward, while Sanders is expected to be drafted within the first round.
A public release for Sanders’ “Pro Day” Nike Air DT Max ’96 sneakers and cleats is unlikely, but given the popularity of the signature line, it certainly wouldn’t disappoint fans if they did end up releasing. In the meantime, upcoming Sanders releases include the Nike Air DT Proto 92 prototype design, a “Love Letter to Connie” Air DT Max ’96 for Mother’s Day and a LeBron 21 “Prime 93” hybrid sneaker.
