Dave Chappelle is currently touring the U.S., with rumblings of a new Netflix special following him along the way. Although there haven’t been any official announcements, someone close to Chappelle dropped that a new special is coming while revealing a pair of sneakers, or five, made just for the occasion.

Coltrane Curtis, founder of the marketing and creative agency Team Epiphany, took to Instagram to reveal he’d been tasked by Chappelle to source Nike Air Force 1 Lows made with the vision of the superstar comedian. Chappelle’s idea: white Forces with a gum outsole and the “C” logo made famous by “Chappelle’s Show.” Curtis’ solution: tapping DJ Clark Kent to bring them to life.

Being one of the supremely connected and esteemed figures in sneakers, Kent was able to get Chappelle five pairs of the sneaker in his size 12. Neither Curtis nor Kent specified if Nike or a customizer put the shoes together, and it wouldn’t be tremendously difficult to apply the graphic Chappelle wanted.

Be it at one of his upcoming tour dates or the (apparently) impending Netflix special, a whole lot of eyes should soon be upon Chappelle’s custom AF1s. And as simple as the shoes are, there’d likely be an abundance of Chappelle fans and sneakerheads alike lining up to buy them if they were ever to go on sale.

That being said, don’t expect Nike to be as willing to court controversy as Netflix in making the shoes a reality for public consumption.
