Damian Lillard and Adidas are taking a page from one of the most iconic Nike SB Dunks of all-time for their Halloween sneaker this year.
The Adidas Dame 9 “Halloween” opts for a slasher look with knife-like metallic stripes and blood splatter — two distinct elements from the famous Freddy Krueger Dunk. Whereas that sneaker, which was pulled before its release because of a cease-and-desist letter and only saw an estimated 30 pairs reach the public, features red and green stripes modeled after the “Nightmare on Elm Street” villain, Lillard’s instead opts for a more neutral (and less infringing) black look.
Black defines the majority of the sneaker, which now adds patent leather to the upper for a glossier look. Blood splatter graces the midsole and the top of the Three Stripes, while red is then used for a few branding hits and the outsole. Bones are also used to form the text “YKW711” on the lateral heel as a reference to “Dame Time” and Lillard’s career-high 71-point game in 2023.

A Bape collaboration launched Lillard’s latest signature sneaker in August, pairing the player with the Japanese streetwear brand for the first time since their three Dame 4 editions from 2018.
The rest of Adidas‘ plans for Halloween have yet to surface, but it did recently release a detailed Samba in two colorways for Day of the Dead. In the wider sneaker landscape, Nike has a Kobe 5 Protro, Zoom Vomero 5, Air Force 1 Low, Dunk Low, Ja 2, kids’-exclusive Air Jordan 1 Low and more for its Halloween slate. Puma has also dressed up LaMelo Ball’s MB.03 for the holiday, while Vans has a Halloween lineup as well.
The Adidas Dame 9 “Halloween” doesn’t yet have a release date but should naturally release prior by October 31 at the latest. Pricing is set at $120.
