Even if you haven’t heard of it, the Crocs Trailbreak has legacy that continues 15 years after it was on shelves. The water friendly trail sandal from 2010 the newer Quick Trail. a model that’s been collaborated on with Simone Rocha, Satisfy and Marmot. Now a new branch has emerged with a 2.0 version, a robust trail shoe that’s launching Crocs new Exp line.
The Crocs Trailbreak 2 is a sneaker-sandal hybrid with an abundance of materials for versatility and comfort. The upper starts with a mesh base with nylon overlays with cutouts for ventilation and bungee laces for speedy adjustments. Underfoot comes the familiar feeling of Croslite foam, which is reinforced with a harder rubber outsole. The exoskeleton of sorts also extends up the midfoot and toe to lock in the shoe and offer protection from debris.
Crocs’ updated Trailbreak is ushering in the Crocs Exp line, which carries the spirit of innovation in reimagining archival silhouettes. The Quick Trail and Quiet Clog appear to be backfills for the line, based on a dedicated page for the new line, but make no mistake that Exp is formally starting with the Trailbreak 2.
The Trailbreak 2 can also be seen as an companion of Salehe Bembury’s Crocs Juniper, a proper sneaker intended for the outdoors.
Two launch colorways, “Clay” and “Chartreuse” (which is more yellow than its namesake), highlight the distinct parts by rendering the sole unit in black.
The Crocs Trailbreak 2 has quietly launched at a selection of European boutiques, and a wider release will come March 20 through Crocs’ website and app, as well as additional retailers. Pricing has also been inconsistent where it has gone on sale already, ranging from $94 to $115.
