Chris Paul‘s signature sneaker days may be behind him, but the future Hall of Fame point guard will get an Air Jordan 1 Low to call his own this month.
After months of leaks, official images have now been revealed for the Air Jordan 1 Low “Give Them Flowers.” This marks his second Air Jordan 1 to get a public release, but unlike the AJ1 High featuring his logo from 2014, there’s nothing explicitly calling attention to the man behind the new shoe.
White and cream form the entirety of the sneaker, with most of the upper making use of an ornate floral-pattern leather in white. Cream suede then forms the Swoosh, mustache, tongue, and vamp. The insole then features a more colorful floral print along with custom graphic in gold, the progeny of which has not yet been explained. On the inner portion of the tongue tag, you’ll also find cursive embroidery reading,” Give Them Flowers.” Rounding out the shoe is an off-white “Sail” midsole sitting atop a translucent outsole in a matching shade.
The idea of giving someone flowers while they’re still around is particularly apt for Paul, who’s undoubtedly one of the best point guards of all-time but has been roundly criticized for not winning a championship. This summer on The Pivot Podcast, Paul revealed that his daughter has even been bullied in school because of the perceived shortcomings of his career.
Paul’s been a Jordan Brand athlete since 2006, and his signature line ran from 2008 to 2009 with a total of 12 models. Following Carmelo Anthony, Paul was only the second NBA player to get his own Jordan sneaker after the big man himself.
This season, we’ll see if Paul can get that much-awaited chip now that he’s joined up with the perennially winning Golden State Warriors. And on the same day this season begins, Oct. 24, the Chris Paul x Air Jordan 1 Low “Give Them Flowers” willrelease through the SNKRS app for $160.
