Breanna Stewart is back with the latest version of her Puma sneaker.
The WNBA star has announced the Stewie 4, the fourth iteration of her signature shoe. The Puma Hoops style features a breathable, engineered mesh upper, cord lock-down lacing and a Profoam midsole. In addition, PwrTape reinforces the upper for extra stability as well as a design that keeps in mind high-abrasion areas.
“The Stewie 4 represents the next step in my journey with Puma Hoops,” Stewart said. “We’ve focused on creating a shoe that not only performs at the highest level but also reflects my personal style and passion for the game. I’m excited to share this with players around the world.
The style is aimed at performance, which makes sense as Stewart is just off a championship-winning season. Over the span of her career, she has won the WNBA MVP honor twice as well as the Finals MVP twice. She’s also won three league titles. The first two occurred while she was with the Seattle Storm.
Days ago, she re-signed with New York Liberty.
The Stewie 4 Prism will debut on April 4, and a variety of colorways will be released throughout the WNBA season. There will be at least six versions, which include a Harry Potter collaboration. She previously released a Harry Potter collaboration for the Stewie 3.
The release of the Stewie 3 Prism Harry Potter collaboration received some criticism, since “Harry Potter” author J. K. Rowling has made multiple transphobic statements over the years.
“I definitely acknowledge the importance of supporting and advocating for the rights of the transgender community,” Stewart told PopSugar in response to the pushback. “I like to think that, you know, I am someone that used my platform as a way to kind of fight for more and fight for good, and I want to be looked at as an ally in that community.”
“I’m a fan of Harry Potter, and at the same time, I want to be an ally for the transgender community and also understanding the way the way that they feel about it,” she continued. “I hope that we can all get to a place where there’s a bit of grace and understanding behind it.”
