Two brands known for their extensive rosters of collaborations are coming together for the first time when Japanese streetwear label A Bathing Ape (Bape) connects with foam footwear company Crocs for a three-shoe collection.
The debut Bape x Crocs collaboration centers around the Crocs Classic Clog. The foam clogs are covered in Bape’s iconic ABC Camo pattern in three colorways: blue, green and pink. Even the “sport mode” strap at the heel has been printed with the camouflage pattern. Co-branding combining the Crocs logo with Bape’s signature Ape Head is included at the footbed of each shoe.
To further tie the collaboration together, custom Bape Jibbitz charms are included with each pair featuring some of the Japanese brand’s memorable logos and phrases. Bape’s Ape Head, Baby Milo, shark and tiger logos are featured along with the “ape shall never kill ape” slogan. As usual, the Jibbitz can be rearranged and reconfigured to the wearer’s individual linking.
Despite both Bape and Crocs each having a history of numerous collaborations, their paths have yet to cross on co-branded footwear until now. Founded in 1993 by Nigo — who left the company 20 years later in 2013 — Bape has in more recent years become known for collaborating with everyone from Adidas to KidSuper. Meanwhile, Crocs has practically built a business off the strength of its numerous licensed collaborations.
The Bape x Crocs Classic Clog collection will be released at Bape stores and from bape.com on March 8 followed by a wider crocs.com launch on March 12. Retail pricing has not yet been confirmed.
