Axel Arigato Reimagines Classic Styles for Hybrid Capsule That’s Heavy on Foam and Fresh Ideas

Axel Arigato has been reimagining its classic styles — Area, Marathon, Genesis, Clean 90, Orbit, and Dice — and its latest Maybe capsule has an unconventional twist.

For this limited-edition collection, creative director Jens Werner gave the styles an experimental edge, bringing foam, a material that traditionally remains hidden within the structure of a sneaker, to the forefront of the design.

Billed as an exploration of construction techniques and a break from the traditional footwear blueprint, the collection also features reinterpreted logos and motifs.

The brand’s Bee Bird graphic has become tone-on-tone, with embroidered details that are seen across the collection. The Axel Arigato logo has been recreated in various modern and traditional forms.

Werner said the capsule was the result of him pushing the team and its suppliers to question and challenge everything they have been doing so far.

“I wanted to dive into every detail, material, cutline, and branding element with fresh eyes. The Maybe capsule distills our minimalist silhouettes down to essentials, then amplifies them with unique and pure expression. It’s raw, intentional, and a work-in-progress. Each piece merges classic and contemporary worlds, creating sneakers and beautiful imagery that speak to both tradition and reinvention,” he added.

For example, the Dice Maybe hybrid model features a hairy suede hood at the front and exposed foam and decorative stitching at the heel. The Marathon Maybe style comes with a split upper, exposing foam in the center, as well as oversized stitches, and a unique lace design.

All made in Portugal, the prices of the capsule start at $300.
