Nike Just Restocked Michael Jordan’s Reimagined Air Jordan 5 Sneaker

Availability was short-lived, but it could mean a drop in resale prices.

Nike’s Jordan Brand “Three Days of Heat” restock culminated Thursday with what may have been the most anticipated drop of the week. After rereleasing coveted styles on Tuesday and Wednesday including the “Black Cement” Air Jordan 3 Retro and the “Columbia” Air Jordan 11 Retro, the three-day restock event concluded Thursday with the launch of the Air Jordan 5 Retro OG “Black Metallic Reimagined.”

The “Black Metallic Reimagined” Air Jordan 5 Retro OG restock took place at 10 a.m. ET and sold out nearly immediately at its retail price of $210, leaving many hopeful shoppers empty handed. The throwback style was first released Feb. 8 and also sold through quickly, turning it into one of the more coveted Air Jordan drops so far this year.

This year’s version of the sneaker is a reinterpreted take of Michael Jordan’s original “Black Metallic” Air Jordan 5 with minor adjustments. The most noticeable update is that the sneaker comes with white shoelaces, a nod to the way Jordan himself often wore the 1990 colorway. Other tweaks include a silver reflective Nike Air heel logo in place of the traditional white stitched look. And keen connoisseurs will also notice that the edges of the shoe’s paneling are colored white for a more dramatic contrast that resembles the sneaker’s original look.

In addition to the return of the Air Jordan 5 Retro “Black Metallic Reimagined,” Thursday’s restock also included the Air Jordan 9 Retro “Olive” and the Air Jordan 12 Retro “Blueberry.” And along with the aforementioned pairs, Wednesday’s releases featured the Air Jordan 4 Retro “Fear,” while Tuesday also saw a rerelease of the Air Jordan 3 Retro “Black Cat.”

Although the Thursday restock has come and gone and Nike and Jordan Brand’s  “Three Days of Heat” event has ended, the increased availability could mean a drop in secondary market prices. A decrease is unlikely to happen immediately, but those interested in the Air Jordan 5 Retro OG “Black Metallic Reimagined” should keep an eye on resell markets such as GOAT and StockX in the coming weeks as this could be the most opportune time to pick the pair up.
