After recently surfacing in the form of a “Bike Air” collaboration with BMX pro Nigel Sylvester, the retooled Air Jordan 4 RM is confirmed to be releasing in more colorways this year.
The action sports-ready Air Jordan 4 Restomod (“RM” for short) sees Michael Jordan’s original 1989 sneaker take on a completely new build. The ankle cut is noticeably lower, and the supportive shoelace “wings” extend to a cage that wraps across most of the upper. In fact, the midsole and the angular toe tip are the only elements that remain the same, yet there’s still enough of the original DNA present that those in the know will be able to recognize the Jordan 4 traits.
These combined aesthetic changes give the Air Jordan 4 RM a decidedly bulkier look than the original. While the brand has yet to formally announce the sneaker and thus its specs remain unknown, the model’s connection to Sylvester and overall look point to it being equipped for biking, skating, and the like.
Watch on FN
Seen here in Black/Light Bone-Dark Grey and Sail/Black-White-Coconut Milk-Canyon Rust styles, both pairs are expected to arrive later this year at retail prices of $150 each. Unlike Sylvester’s playful “Bike Air” heel branding, the colorways previewed here use traditional Nike Air branding. This discrepancy, along with the fact that images of these new colorways surfaced via retailer JD Sports, is a likely indicator that the pairs will be available in higher numbers than the collaboration.
Readers can expect to learn more about the Air Jordan 4 RM in the coming weeks, but for now, here’s every Air Jordan releasing in May.
