The Air Jordan 4’s 35th anniversary has already seen retro releases of classic colorways like the “Bred Reimagined” and “Military Blue,” but there are still more major launches on the way for the trending model.
In October, female sneaker fans will be treated to a women’s-exclusive colorway of the Air Jordan 4 in “Orchid.” This iteration of the Air Jordan 4 uses many of its signature design cues such as a splattered “cement” pattern on the midsole and TPU support wings along with contrasting color peeking through the shoe’s mesh tongue and mid-panel cutouts.
But the star of the show here is the shoe’s “Orchid” purple suede upper, giving the Air Jordan 4 a soft, plush look that stands out from other versions of the sneaker. This suede shade has never been used on a general release Air Jordan 4, and the closest known comparison is a 2013 purple colorway created exclusively for Chris Paul. In 2022, Jordan Brand released a suede “Canyon Purple” Air Jordan 4 women’s exclusive, although its colors were considerably different than the upcoming “Orchid” look.
Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to wear the “Orchid” Air Jordan 4, as it’s designated as a women’s-exclusive style without extended sizing — meaning sizes will end at a women’s 12, which converts to a men’s 10.5.
Other Air Jordan 4 news of note includes another upcoming women’s exclusive, the Air Jordan 4 “Net,” which covers the upper of the shoe in its signature plastic mesh netting. Due for a comeback in November is the Air Jordan 4 “Fear,” which was originally released in 2013. And looking ahead, one of the most coveted sneaker collaborations of all-time, the Undefeated x Air Jordan 4, is expected to be released in 2025.
While not yet officially confirmed by the brand, this Air Jordan 4 Retro “Orchid” women’s exclusive is set to be released on Oct. 26 at a retail price of $215. It will be available from Nike’s SNKRS app as well as select Jordan Brand retailers. Its full colorway is listed as “Orchid/Neutral Grey/Black/White” and its SKU is AQ9129-501.
