One of the most polarizing Air Jordan styles in recent memory is getting a follow-up release in one of the brand’s most popular colorways.

After launching in an all-white colorway in December, the heavily modified Air Jordan 4 Net is now primed to release in an all-black “Black Cat” variation. Built with a smooth leather upper, the upcoming sneaker’s defining trait is its large TPU net overlay which wraps around nearly the entire top-half of the shoe. Traditionally used only on the tongue and cut-out windows at the lateral and medial sides, this version puts the net material on center stage, adding both aesthetic flair and a new level of functionality to the classic Michael Jordan shoe.

Nike’s official product description for the Air Jordan 4 Net mentions “free-floating eyestays near the ankle” which “pull down over your foot when you lace up for a fit that feels secure.” This is in reference to the shoe’s TPU “wing” eyestays, which, in conjunction with the oversized netting, offer an increased level of containment compared to standard Air Jordan 4s.

Additionally, the redesign allows for multiple shoelace configurations, a feature which is highlighted on the tissue paper inside of the shoebox.

Like the white pair that was released in December, the “Black Cat” Air Jordan 4 Net will come equipped with removable charm pendants. The white iteration featured a gold Jumpman logo and Jordan’s number 23, while the upcoming black version comes with a silver Jumpman and another that reads “1985,” the year the very first Air Jordan was released.

While the reaction to the modified Air Jordan 4 Net has been mixed on social media, the sneaker boasts high reviews on Nike’s e-commerce site.

Fans of Jordan Brand’s “Black Cat” theme have plenty to look forward to this year. After the “Black Cat” Air Jordan 3 Retro was released in January, the most coveted version, the “Black Cat” Air Jordan 4 Retro, is expected to launch on Black Friday.

As for the “Black Cat” Air Jordan 4 Net, the women’s-exclusive pair is set to arrive on SNKRS and at select Jordan Brand retailers on Feb. 26 for a retail price of $210.
