Whether through collaboration with brands such as Wales Bonner or its in-house reworkings of the classic shoe, AdidasSamba sneaker has seemingly run the gamut of material makeovers and modifications in recent years. Yet just when it feels like we’ve seen it all, the Herzogenaurach, Germany-based company puts a new spin on the iconic silhouette.

The latest update to the enduring sneaker is a pre-distressed design which uses the LT (Long Tongue) variation of the model. Coming in “Core Black/Footwear White” (JR5999) and “Crew White/Shock Pink” (JR5998) colorways, this  Adidas Samba duo has been unofficially dubbed the “Distressed Pack.”

Its nickname comes from the pre-weathered look utilized on each style’s upper, which looks as though the shoes have been lightly scuffed and scraped for a broken-in aesthetic that isn’t quite as dramatic as the distressing seen on sneakers from brands like Balenciaga and Golden Goose.

Rather than appearing dirty and pre-stained, these upcoming Sambas are lightly faded in certain spots to show contrasting color peeking from beneath. Although unconfirmed, it appears that both of the “Distressed Pack” shoes will feature a wear-away coated upper that reveals a secondary color underneath, meaning that with enough use, the white pair will eventually turn pink while the black colorway will change to white.

In related revamped Samba news, Adidas has also prepped two (faux) pony hair-covered versions of the sneaker, both of which have already started being released overseas and are anticipated to arrive at stateside retailers soon.
