Wimbledon Men’s Final: Under Armour’s Murray To Meet New Balance’s Raonic

When Andy Murray and Milos Raonic take the court at Sunday’s Wimbledon finals, their shoe sponsors will also get some major play.
Murray, an Under Armour athlete who has been on a roll since he signed with the company in 2014, will face Raonic, a New Balance athlete and the first Canadian to ever reach a Grand Slam final.
It’s a somewhat surprising matchup both from a player perspective — and a footwear one, too. Nike athletes Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal ruled the Grand Slam courts for many years, and Novak Djokovic, who is sponsored by Uniqlo and wears Adidas, has also been in many recent finals. He beat Murray in both the Australian and French Open earlier this year.

Last year, Raonic. The long-term deal will tie the Canadian player to the Boston-based company for the rest of his career.
“I have been very fortunate to work alongside the great team at New Balance for the past two-plus years,” Raonic said at the time. “Their openness to new ideas and development of their tennis product has been something I’ve been very honored to be a part of and help develop.”

Murray, one of Under Armour’s key players, recently debuted his new tennis kit in a campaign for the sportswear brand that was shot on a tennis court hidden underground in London’s Postal Museum. Rocking his UA Clutchfit Pursuit sneakers, the tennis ace strikes poses in a matching shirt-and-shorts set. His flexible footwear features two-way stretch synthetic material and a foam sole that supports stability.
To get into the final match, Raonic beat tennis champ Federer in a five-set match, while Murray won rather easily in three sets against Tomas Berdych.
