Nike-Sponsored Victor Cruz Announces He’s Having Season-Ending Surgery
New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz missed a majority of the 2014 NFL season with a torn patellar tendon suffered in a Week 6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Today, the Nike-sponsored athlete announced he would have surgery on his left calf that will keep him off the field this season as well.
Cruz took to Bleacher Report’s “Uninterrupted” video platform to make the announcement.
“I just got news that I will be having season ending surgery on my left calf,” he said. “This hurts mainly because I’ve worked so hard to come back from the patellar tendon surgery, I fought hard day in and day out; rehab, physical work and strength work, I felt like I was back to 100 percent and then the calf happens.”
Cruz returned to practice before the 2015 NFL regular season kicked-off, participating in practices and beginning to look ready for a return, but then injured his left calf in mid-August.

Before signing off, the visibly somber Cruz had a message for his fans.
“I hope you guys don’t lose faith in me because I haven’t lost faith in myself,” he said. “See you guys next year.”
The Super Bowl XLVI champion and 2012 Pro Bowl selection will have his first signature shoes hit stores on Nov. 20, the Nike Air TR Cruz. The first colorway, named Haystack, features premium wheat suede on its upper, black with red speckle midsole, and a gum outsole.
