Only a few more shopping days are left before Christmas, and several footwear styles have emerged as hot-ticket items with consumers.
Last week, news surfaced that L.L. Bean’s classic duck boots have sold out, with a 100,000-person-long backlog. And according to Experian, the phrase “Uggs” is one of the most searched-for words on the Web this season.
Meanwhile, house shoes continue to be a popular stocking stuffer. Yvonne Yip, VP of merchandising for Gilt.com, told FN earlier this month, “Slippers have been the best category [within cold-weather shoes], selling out with the highest demand in our sales.”
Are they on your wish list? Tell us in the poll below:
Cozy and weather-resistant shoes could certainly come in handy this week, as snow is expected to hit the Northwest and rain could drench the entire East Coast.
In the athletic realm, basketball sneakers remain a must-get for the season. The Air Jordan 6 Retro Mid style generated plenty of revenue for the brand over Thanksgiving weekend, according to The NPD Group. Also, this month Nike has been releasing a stream of new looks from marquee athletes LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant, some of which are holiday-themed.

And in the spirit of new resolutions (and in the wake of those holiday treats), many shoppers will be picking up pairs of running shoes from hot brands such as Asics, New Balance and Brooks.
But then there are those who prefer footwear with a little more luxury, like, say a glittering sandal from Stuart Weitzman or an ornate pump by Manolo Blahnik. FN asked designers for their own suggestions for the holiday season, and the answers were covet-worthy. For instance, Blahnik told us, “A matador pump in satin silk always works for me.”
But maybe you disagree. Vote below in FN’s latest poll, and tell us which types of footwear you hope to see under the Christmas tree.
