Novak Djokovic Defeats Andy Murray To Win First French Open Title

Novak Djokovic’s flirtation with a French Open title is finally over.

The Serbian tennis star etched a heart with his racket on the clay court after defeating Andy Murray, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4, on Sunday at the Roland Garros stadium in Paris.

Basking in his victory, Djokovic dropped to the floor with his legs spread — clad in Adidas sneakers — to embrace the big moment.

The athlete had on his white Adidas Barricade 7 shoes that feature his face on the tongue and signature “D” on the lateral side.

Djokovic finished runner-up three times in previous years at the tournament.

The 29-year-old has won 12 major titles in his career, including six Australian Open trophies, three Wimbledon and two U.S. Open championships.

Djokovic snatched the Australian Open in January, and now, after winning the French Open, he could be the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to nab all four titles in the same calendar year if he’s successful at the upcoming Wimbledon and U.S. Open games.

Britain’s Murray had on Under Armour tennis shoes and hugged Djokovic after he was upended.

Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank was among the spectators at the match. A day earlier she watched Serena Williams lose the women’s title to Gabrine Muguruza.
