How do you make Timberland’s Premium 6-Inch Waterproof Boot even more premium? For Japanese clothing brand Nonnative, it means swapping the boot’s traditional leather for a hairy to the touch long-nap suede, adding an elevated level of waterproofing and upgrading its already rugged outsole.
Confirmed for a Friday launch from select retailers is the Nonnative x Timberland 6-Inch Premium Gore-Tex Boot. Decked out in a special “Sand Beige” suede that will only be used on this version of the boot, the shoe also features a matching sole. According to Nonnative, the “Sand Beige” color was selected as a reference to “American classics.” But not only is the hairy suede premium, it’s also waterproof to ensure it doesn’t lack functionality.
Beyond the waterproofed suede, the inside of the shoe is also weather protected thanks to its Gore-Tex membrane. In comparison to typical Timberland Premium 6-Inch Waterproof boots, the addition of Gore-Tex adds a higher level of breathability. And at the bottom, the boot’s usual rubber lug outsole has been improved with Vibram rubber for even longer-lasting durability.
Aesthetically, the Nonnative x Timberland 6-Inch Premium Gore-Tex Boot is a mostly tonal affair, but it does include some small touches that set it apart. Black and white contrast stitching is used throughout the shoe’s seams, while the stamped tonal Timberland logo is nearly hidden on both the lateral panel and hangtag. Three different sets of shoelaces are included with the boots in black, beige and the boot’s traditional two-tone yellow-and-brown option.
This isn’t the first time that Gore-Tex and Vibram have been added to the Timberland 6-Inch Premium Boot. In September 2024, Montreal design studio JJJJound released a leather 6-Inch Premium Boot collaboration featuring the same updates.
The Nonnative x Timberland 6-Inch Premium Gore-Tex Boot will retail for $220 and will be available Friday, Feb. 28 from retailers including Nonnative, Coverchord, Beauty & Youth, Kith Tokyo and select Timberland Japan stores. The boots will also be launched on Timberland’s U.S. e-commerce site.
