Nike and Major League Baseball Team Up to Release the Bold ‘City Connect’ Series of Uniforms
The Major League Baseball regular season is here, and Nike has something new on the way for fans to celebrate their favorite teams in style.
As a way to celebrate the bond between the identities of baseball teams and their fans, the brand teamed up with the league for the 2021 Nike MLB City Connect series. Nike further explained the look of the collection, which it said explores “a franchise’s connection to its city and its fanbase, each with distinct personalities, values, customs and traditions.”
“Nike is uniquely suited for our relationship with MLB because we like pushing the edges of creativity across the board, but it’s always done out of a place of supporting the players and advancing the sport,” Nike VP of North America league partnerships Sonja Henning said in a statement. “We take that same attentive energy in hearing insight from athletes and apply that to visualizing new and familiar relationships between clubs, cities and fans.”

The lineup was created in collaboration with seven teams: Arizona Diamondbacks, Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins and the San Francisco Giants. Nike confirmed that the City Connect Series will appear league-wide in later seasons.
The first release from Nike MLB City Connect series, a new look uniform for the Boston Red Sox arrives today via the SNKRS app, the Nike App and Nike.com. It can also be picked up at the MLB flagship store in New York City and at select retailers.
