NBA icon Kobe Bryant’s profound impact on San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan‘s basketball career is well documented, and so is the baller’s affinity for the Black Mamba’s on-court footwear.
This week, Nike is launching a player-edition version of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro for DeRozan.
Nike confirmed the Kobe 5 Protro PE “DeMar DeRozan” will hit shelves on Sept. 18. According to the product description, this special edition wears the Spurs’ team colors, with the upper predominantly in a gray and various patterns — including stripes and checkerboards — are printed throughout. Additional details include black Swoosh branding on the sides, which is paired with a matching sock liner and heel counter. The look is completed with a Zoom Air-cushioned midsole for on-court responsiveness along with a rubber outsole for traction.
The Nike Kobe 5 Protro PE “DeMar DeRozan” releases on the SNKRS app at 10 a.m. ET and at select Nike Basketball retailers this Friday. The shoe will retail for $180.
In related Nike Kobe news, Houston Rockets forward P.J. Tucker revealed last week that his player-edition Nike Kobe 5 Protro is dropping on Sept. 25.
