Reebok has a partnership with CrossFit and makes shoes for the sport, but that hasn’t stopped Nike from making its acclaimed Metcon shoes that avid CrossFitters love. And today, the athletic giant announced it is expanding the beloved franchise.
Nike unveiled its Metcon DSX Flyknit and Metcon 3 styles today, which arrive in stores on Jan. 2 and 5, respectively. The Metcon 3 will be available starting Dec. 19 via NIKEiD.
The latest iteration of the acclaimed Metcon shoes is the Metcon 3, which according to Nike is the brand’s “best all-around lifting shoe that supports the high intensity training of champion competitors and CrossFitters alike.” The sneaker boasts a flat and strong platform that delivers stability for squats, box jumps and explosive lifts, designed with a 4mm offset. The Metcon 3 comes with a $130 price tag.
In addition to a new Metcon shoe to the franchise, there is the debut of the Metcon DSX Flyknit, which Nike said is designed to be the ideal training shoe for functional fitness and high-intensity cardio workouts. The shoes, according to Nike, are “designed for athletes who balance strength drills alongside their cardio.”
The sneakers are executed with Flyknit to keep the shoes light, flexible and runnable, Flywire at the mid-foot for a dynamic fit, and a new dual density outsole with a 6 mm offset — paired with a drop-in articulated cushioning system — for more cushioning and comfort to withstand significant miles and reps.
The Metcon DSX Flyknit retails for $160.
