The path to breaking a long-standing record in any sport isn’t easy. Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors were reminded of that Tuesday night when the Minnesota Timberwolves entered the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., and defeated the Dubs in overtime, 124-117.
Minnesota forward Shabazz Muhammad – who hit the court in the Adidas 2015 Crazylight Boost Primeknit – scored a career-high 35 points coming off the bench on 9-of-12 shooting, including hitting 2-of-4 from 3-point range. Muhammad also grabbed six rebounds in the win.
But Muhammad wasn’t the only Minnesota player in Adidas to have a big game last night. Second-year guard Andrew Wiggins dropped 32 points on the Warriors, shooting 11-of-19 from the field. Wiggins, who wore a Timberwolves colorway of the Adidas Crazylight Boost 2.5, also grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists.
Minnesota rookie Karl-Anthony Towns, a Nike-sponsored athlete, also had a big game, scoring 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting. Towns wore a black-and-white colorway of the Nike Hyperfuse 2014 on Tuesday.
Reigning regular season MVP Curry had a rare poor shooting night Tuesday, scoring 21 points on 7-of-25 shooting, including going 4-of-14 from long range. The superstar guard – wearing a tonal blue, white and gold colorway of the Under Armour Curry Two in the first half of the game and a gold and black colorway in the second half – was able to find open Golden State shooters, dishing out 15 assists in the loss.
The Warriors (69-9) must win all four remaining regular season games to top the NBA’s best all-time regular season record of 72-10 set by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in the 1995-96 season.
