Skechers has teamed up with legendary New York Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera on a new campaign for its Relaxed Fit footwear. The brand will launch its first ad with the World Series hero closer during the MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday.
The brand released a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot with Rivera on its YouTube channel. The ad will air in its entirety during the game, Tuesday at 4 p.m. on Fox.
Similarly to past Skechers ads with icons in a number of sports, Rivera is very relaxed in the commercial – a nod to his Relaxed Fit footwear – while rookie baseball players create a chaotic situation around him during a thunderstorm at a ballpark.
The brand is no stranger to teaming up with legendary retired athletes for ads, including four-time Super Bowl-wining NFL quarterback Joe Montana, 17-time All-Star baseball player Pete Rose and International Boxing Hall of Famer Sugar Ray Leonard, as well as current prominent athletes, such as marathoners Meb Keflezighi and Kara Goucher.

The brand’s marketing campaign with Rivera will run through the rest of the year across all media platforms, with a Spanish-language version of the TV campaign released in around the world.
