Nike’s Kevin Durant Chooses Golden State Warriors Over OKC Thunder
Kevin Durant spent his entire NBA career with the same franchise, moving with the Seattle SuperSonics to Oklahoma City (under the new Thunder name) starting with the 2008-09 season. But now the superstar baller is making another move, walking away from the only NBA team he’s ever known to join Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
The Nike-sponsored athlete delivered his own brand of fireworks on the Fourth of July by announcing via The Players Tribune that he would join the reigning Western Conference champs in a post titled “My Next Chapter.”
“It really pains me to know that I will disappoint so many people with this choice, but I believe I am doing what I feel is the right thing at this point in my life and my playing career,” the former MVP wrote.

Durant made only one NBA Finals appearance with Oklahoma City, falling to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat in the 2011-12 season.
In his nine seasons with the Thunder, Durant has averaged 28.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 5 assists per game.
Nike unveiled its star forward’s next signature shoe in March, the Zoom KD 9, which he debuted in the 2016 NBA Playoffs where the Thunder fell to the Warriors.
