One of the most iconic shoes of all-time will soon receive the premium collaboration treatment of Montreal-based design studio JJJJound.
For the first time ever, JJJJound has collaborated with Timberland on a two-shoe collection which will be released next week. Using the outdoor footwear brand’s classic 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boot as its base, the collaboration brings JJJJound’s understated yet elegant approach to the timeless boot.
The JJJJound x Timberland 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boot comes in black and brown leather styles. Each pair uses full-grain leather and the black colorway is completely tonal, while the brown pair dons black on the sole, heel, shoelaces and eyelets. At the heel, JJJJound’s typeface logo is juxtaposed with the Timberland tree emblem.
But rather than simply altering the colors and materials, JJJJound has actually made the already-rugged 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boot even more durable than standard iterations. The boot has been upgraded with a Gore-Tex membrane to further ward off the elements. At the bottom, the boot’s traditional in-house rubber sole has also been taken up a notch with the introduction of Vibram rubber.

Timberland’s perpetually trending Premium Waterproof Boot was first introduced in 1973. Christened as simply the “Timberland boot” and also referred to as the “yellow boot,” the shoe was first introduced in an 8-inch version, with the 6-inch iteration arriving in 1976. It went on to transcend workwear, becoming an icon of hip-hop style, where it continues to be a staple today. There have been countless collaborations over the years, but this is the first time the New Hampshire-based footwear brand has worked with JJJJound.
In related news, JJJJound recently teased a New Balance 993 sneaker collaboration which is expected to be released soon.
The JJJJound x Timberland 6-Inch Premium Waterproof Boot will be released Thursday, Sept. 19 at 12 p.m. EST and will be available from both JJJJound and Timberland’s websites. Retail pricing has not yet been announced, but the addition of Gore-Tex and Vibram nearly guarantees a higher-than-usual price tag.
