Decades after their creation in Brazil in 1962, Havaianas have continued to garner increased popularity. The classic flip-flop silhouette has been embraced by many, including notable fans like Jennifer Lopez, Elle Fanning, Alessandra Ambrosio and Reese Witherspoon.
The footwear brand has continued to gain worldwide attention through their collaborations. In the early 2010s, Havaianas made an impactful attempt at working with top labels like Valentino and Liberty. Since then, the brand has gone on to work with other top brands like Disney and celebrities like Barbie Ferreira.
In a previous interview with FN, Havaianas’ U.S. president Marcio Moura spoke about the importance of working with other brands. “We are always bringing in something new for the customers and also something that is stylish. That’s one thing that a lot of customers expect,” he said.

Around the same time, the two brands came out with a Pride 2023 collection.
Havaianas x Market, 2023
Following the co-brand’s fit thermal flip-flop collaboration, Havaianas and Market released a 2-in-1 shoe, aiming to make thong sandals a year-round shoe option. The matte black style can be transformed from a summer flip flop with a platform sole and a rounded yellow and black rubber base, to a padded winter slipper with a quilted puffer upper.
Havaianas x Rotate, 2022
Havaianas teamed up with Rotate on a limited-edition collection of three flip-flop styles that were inspired by Rotate’s spring 2022 collection. The collaboration combines Rotate’s glamorous vibe with the laidback energy of Havanas’ Brazilian roots. The label’s signature hot pink and green were contrasted with a chunky black logo on the footbed with the last pair adding texture with a dark python print.
Havaianas x Daily Paper, 2022
For their spring 2022 collection, Daily Paper tapped Havaianas for a collaboration focused on supporting the island nation of Mauritius in its efforts to promote and enforce conservation. The iconic flip-flop silhouette features a black strap and a footbed covered in a colorful infographic that highlights the native and often endangered plants and animals of the island.
Havaianas x More Joy, 2022
Havaianas and Christopher Kane’s clothing brand More Joy collaborated on an exclusive two-piece collection of flip-flops. Both styles have a black footbed decorated by a foot graphic, one in red and the other in white, showing a peace sign with the toe surrounding the thong strap. The design was created with the intent of showing the humorous nature of both brands.
Havianas x Stranger Things, 2019
In 2019, Havaianas joined the “Stranger Things” craze with a collection of sandals inspired by the hit Netflix show. The two styles featured recognizable imagery from the sci-fi drama that takes place in the 1980s.
Havaianas x We Are Handsome , 2017
Havaianas collaborated with Australian swimwear label We Are Handsome on a capsule of women’s flip-flops. The collection embodied the brand’s signature style with striking photographic digital prints. Havaianas x Baby2Baby, 2017
Havaianas partnered with nonprofit Baby2Baby on an exclusive Mommy & Me collection of flip-flops, designed by famous moms Jessica Alba and Jenna Dewan Tatum. The collection includes two matching sets of flip-flops, one in a light teal and the other in a beige with decorative motifs like heart and fruit shapes on both of the straps. All of the proceeds were donated to the foundation.
Havaianas x Liberty, 2016
Just in time for the summer of 2016, Havaianas and Liberty worked together on a women’s capsule line which included five flip-flop styles and two espadrilles, along with beach gear like matching towels and totes. After diving into Liberty’s archives, Havaianas chose a vibrant floral pattern dating back to the 1960s, which reminded the brand of its Brazilian heritage.
Havaianas x Valentino, 2013
Flip flops became couture when Havaianas collaborated with Valentino on a luxury sandal collection. The line was inspired by the Italian label’s Rockstud heels. For the women’s style, the footwear brand’s signature vibrance came through with neon pink and yellow pairs and camouflage patterns. As for the men’s style, they took a more sophisticated approach with dark green and taupe tones in croc-embossed texture.
Havaianas x Missoni, 2011
Havaianas and Missoni came together to create a limited-edition collection that paid homage to both of the brand’s roots with the distinctive white, red and green of Italy’s national colors and the hues of green and yellow from the Brazilian flag. The line included three new designs that combined Missoni’s famous zig-zag patterns with Havaianas’ bright colors, all available with slim and top straps.
Havaianas x Marvel
Havaianas has an ongoing collaboration with Marvel to release a limited-edition capsule of flip flops for comic book fans. The styles combined the vibrant designs and classic comfort of Havaianas with the brand’s classic characters like Captain America, Iron Man and Spider-Man. To pay homage to the comics, the sets are covered with bold, colorful comic-style graphics on the footbeds.
