The Oklahoma City Thunder — much to the surprise of fans and analysts alike — closed out its series with the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night, winning Game 6 on its home Chesapeake Energy Arena court, 113-99. That sets up a Western Conference Finals matchup against the Golden State Warriors, and the star-studded series is sure to be full of monumental sneaker moments.
Golden State and Oklahoma City both have ballers with well-known shoe deals: Stephen Curry with Under Armour, Klay Thompson with Anta, Kevin Durant with Nike and Russell Westbrook with Jordan Brand.
Two-time NBA MVP Curry has a few shoe options for the series. Throughout the regular season, the guard wore the Curry Two for Golden State, but he debuted the Curry 2.5 near the end of the season and has worn the shoe through much of the first and second playoff rounds.
Thompson isn’t with the most well-known brand stateside, but he still gets lots of attention domestically for his Anta KT signature shoe. The guard — and “Splash Brother” to Curry — has frequently worn a blue, yellow and white iteration of the shoe throughout the playoffs.
While fans wait to see Durant in his Nike KD9, which the brand unveiled in March, they get to see him on the court in the KD8 and the latest iteration of the shoe, the KD8 Elite. The Elite edition features a calf-length compression sock, full-length visible Zoom Air cushioning and Flywire technology with Kevlar aramid fiber.
Although Westbrook has a signature shoe with Jordan Brand, the Westbrook 0, his on-court shoe is the latest Michael Jordan signature shoe, the Air Jordan XXX. The explosive guard wears colorways on the court that are as flamboyant as his personal style off the court, including iterations dominated by bright orange hues.
But the stars with signature shoes won’t be the only players hitting the hardwood with heat on their feet. Steven Adams of Oklahoma City plays in the Adidas D Rose 773, and both Draymond Green and Shaun Livingston of Golden State opt for Nike, wearing the Zoom HyperRev 2016 and Hyperdunk 2014, respectively. Livingston has also worn other Nike silhouettes throughout the season, including the Kyrie 2. Also in Adidas is Harrison Barnes of Golden State, who wears the Crazyquick 3.
