Rapper Cam’ron had a busy weekend, to say the least. On Saturday, the New York-based artist took to Instagram to surprise locals with a massive sneaker giveaway in the middle of the city.
“Me and @harlem_kd41 dumping these in Harlem 143 and 5th at da ball court. For anyone out there in Harlem that needs size 10’s,” he captioned a video that included shots of rare shoes such as the Nike Zoom LeBron 4 “NYC” along with several Air Force 1s and Air Trainers.
Judging by the Instagram videos that followed, it didn’t take long for a crowd to form at the Harlem basketball court, and before long, people were walking away with sneakers straight from the artist’s personal collection. In the clips, Cam’ron can be heard conversing with fans, many of whom are now feeling the holiday spirit earlier than usual thanks to the rapper.
For most people, that would have been enough excitement for one weekend, but instead, Cam’ron capitalized on the attention just one day later by announcing his new Reebok collaboration. “We got the camo laces, pink suede — Easter shoe,” he says in the clip, perhaps hinting at the sneaker’s release date.
