Images of a “Michigan” Air Jordan 12 have been circulating online for quite some time, initially a collaboration with Public School. And now, news of a release date for the sneaker inspired by the school has surfaced, but without any branding from the streetwear standout.
Jordan Brand retailers, including Footaction and Finish Line, have an Air Jordan 12 Retro in the “College Navy/Amarillo” colorway — the colors synonymous with the University of Michigan — slated to drop on June 23. (Since signing on to be Michigan’s athletic apparel sponsor in 2016, Nike has replaced the school’s traditional “Maize” hue with “Amarillo.”)
The shoe is predominantly executed in college navy with hits of amarillo throughout the upper, heels and outsole, most notably on the right tongue, where the school’s “M” logo sits.
What’s missing from the most recent images released, which differ slightly from those that hit the internet in November 2017, are the references to Public School. On the new images, there is no “PSNY” down the tongue where the “TWO3” is traditionally placed (the “TWO3” is on the “Michigan” iteration), and the stripe down the heel is no longer amarillo (it has been replaced with college navy).
The Air Jordan 12 “Michigan” will retail for $225.
