Last week, Footwear News told you about Adidas’ new Superstar 80s Primeknit sneaker, which hit stores this past weekend. Now, the athletic giant is reimagining its Stan Smith sneaker in the same lightweight, breathable Primeknit material, available on Aug. 8.
The Consortium Stan Smith Primeknit Reflective has a reflective heel tab created with silver yarn incorporated into the knitting. The feature is meant to add safety to the sneakers.
The original Stan Smith Primeknit was released in 2014 as a lightweight summer alternative to the iconic Stan Smith sneakers, which are having a moment right now among celebrities and street-style stars.
The Stan Smith Primeknit is available in black or white versions, both with an off-white outsole. Of course, the classic tongue label with the face of Stan Smith is included.

In addition to this style, Adidas has also released other updates of its classic styles, including collections by Rick Owens and Raf Simons as well as several packs by singer Pharrell Williams.
The sneakers retail for $120 and will be sold in a handful of U.S. retailers, including Barneys New York, Dover Street Market, Social Status, Sneaker Politics and others. Internationally, the shoes will be available at No.42 Paris, No.74 Berlin and select Consortium retailers.
