The latest colorway of Adidas’ second signature shoe for Portland Trail Blazers star guard Damian Lillard, the D Lillard 2, is inspired by his message dismissing those that are vocal about doubting his game.
The Adidas D Lillard 2 “Static” iteration drops Saturday and will retail for $105.
The colorway, inspired by Lillard’s attitude of deeming unwarranted and unjustified criticisms of his play as just noise, features a simplified black, white and gray color palette. The white and black threads, according to Adidas, represent a static effect that is symbolic of his motivation to drown out noise and maintain an unrelenting focus.
“I don’t need validation – they’ve seen what I can do out there,” Lillard said in a statement. “As a man, I’ve grown to rise above it all and block out the noise. I’ll keep pushing, keep working, and soon enough they’ll wake up.”
The shoe also features the brand’s Bounce cushioning and a Continental rubber outsole for extra grip on the hardwood.
Lillard is currently averaging 25 points, 7.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game this season, improving on his career averages of 21 points, 6.3 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game. The fourth-year guard stunned Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors coming off the NBA All-Star break by dropping 51 points on the Western Conference foe in a 137-105 win for his Trail Blazers.
