London Fashion Week is quickly becoming filled with unreleased shoe collaborations on the runway — with the latest hailing from Mains.
At the streetwear brand’s spring 2024 show, models wore chunky, jet-black sneakers hailing from Puma. The rounded pair featured mesh uppers and ridged, tire-like rubber soles for a utilitarian base, cinched with matching laces for additional security. Giving the style added futuristic flair was its smooth technical fabric overlay panels — which featured a faintly iridescent sheen, shifting from gray-purple to blue, pink and yellow tones when hit by the light.
The style, which appeared several times on the runway for Skepta‘s 6-year-old streetwear label, is confirmed to be an unreleased shoe made with Puma.
It wasn’t confirmed if the pair will be released to the public or if it’s the start of an upcoming collaboration with Skepta, who has previously collaborated with Nike on a series of metallic and vibrantly colored Air Max sneakers.
Anyone wondering how Skepta envisions the shoes being worn, however, needs to only look towards his grass-lined runway. Mains’ spring 2024 collection featured an assortment of leather jackets and shorts, dark stitch-trimmed denim and leather racing sets — plus an assortment of streamlined suiting and nostalgic graphic sweaters — all in varying hues of black, red, brown and light green.
The aforementioned sneakers were styled in several looks, including a black and white-paneled leather jacket (reading “Mains” across its front) and matching trousers. For a sleeker take on sneaker style, another pair of the shoes was simply worn with a waistband-revealing set of black leather pants and a see-through chainmail vest for a grungy edge. No shirt? No problem.
LFW is held in London in September, marking the second week of Fashion Month. The spring 2024 season will see a calendar of fashion shows and presentations from a range of brands, including Burberry, Simone Rocha, Erdem and more. The occasion will also include numerous parties and activations from brands like Valentino, Wolf & Badger and Wonderland magazine — as well as the star-studded Vogue World: London event, which celebrates fashion’s international community with a current-season runway show.
