Golden Goose has teamed up with American pro skater Cory Juneau to release a new version of its collaborative Ball Star Pro sneaker created “for skateboarding use only.”
The pair is releasing the style in a new colorway ahead of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics. The new shoes feature a metallic silver leather upper with a large striped cream-colored star. Around the body of the shoe, diamond-textured rubber supports are positioned to reduce impact and enhance durability for professional performance.
The blue rubber sole of the style contains glitter embellishments.
Golden Goose and Juneau previously co-designed a version of the Ball Star Pro, which Juneau wore to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. It was in those sneakers, which was Golden Goose’s first foray into skate footwear, that Juneau made history as the first American to win an Olympic medal in the men’s park. He won bronze.
“In life your hardest competitor is always yourself, but I feel good about it because nobody is gonna be more hard on me than me,” Juneau said in a release about the new style.
After its debut at the 2020 Olympics, the Ball Star Pro was released on a four-stop tour. Each of the tour’s cities which included Milan, Copenhagen, Austin and Portland, included a limited-edition version of the shoe that featured a unique colorway. The sneakers were released in numbered batches of 100. The version from Milan also included “Dreamers From Venice” written in block letters along the side.
The new, metallic style was inspired, in part, by Golden Goose’s second HAUS of Dreamers event which was held in Paris last October. There, the brand unveiled the Paris Ball Star Pro, which was a much pared-back version of the style. It was also a limited edition.
The latest Cory Juneau Ball Star pro in metallic silver is available now for $795.
