Dr. Martens has “gone soft.”
The British-based footwear brand has unveiled its latest Ambassador Leather collection, reinterpreting a myriad of classic silhouettes with premium tumbled leather, including the brand’s popular 1460 Boot and 2976 Chelsea Boot. The shoes are available in both black and cashew colorways.
“Ambassador leather is supple with a pebbled texture and a rich oiled finish — and it feels soft and well worn from day one,” reads Dr. Martens’ official release. The description continues, “Committed to innovation that maintains the brand’s classic DNA, this launch was inspired with consumer and heritage in mind. Made for longevity and designed with timeless taste, these styles are made to be brought home ready for miles of comfortable experiences ahead!”

Both shoes feature the brand’s signature details, including a grooved sole, black and yellow heel loops and iconic yellow stitching.
The 1460 shoe, dating back to 1960, is a lace-up ankle-length boot featuring an 8-eye design and Goodyear-welted sole. The shoe is available for $170 in both colorways.
The 2976 shoe, first produced in the 70s, is a pull-on style Chelsea boot with elastic gussets; it also features Goodyear-welting. Both the black and cashew versions retail for $170.
Dr. Martens has created Ambassador Leather versions of many other silhouettes, including the Josef Leather Buckle Sandal Slides, the Adrian Yellow Stitch Loafers, the 8065 Mary Janes, the 101 Ankle Boots, and the 1461 Oxford Shoes.
This Ambassador Leather collection was unveiled around the same time that Dr. Martens announced a collaboration with Nine Inch Nails inspired by 1990s grunge culture. Amid these rollouts, the company is looking ahead to 2025 as it assesses sales and curates strategies for greater profitability.
