Church’s took over Milan’s Biblioteca Braidense this weekend to show its autumn/winter 2025 footwear collection.
During the presentation, the Prada-owned company highlighted its signature Chetwynd style with the introduction of the new Chetwynd Contour dress shoe. Made on the signature 173 last, the Chetwynd Contour’s main update is a thicker upper that gives it both sturdiness and character.
Interestingly, though, the shoes are made with a new technology that uses high-frequency waves on plates and machinery to engrave the traditional wingtip design into the leather without compromising the upper. Guided by a craftsperson, his technique produces “unique and captivating embossed effects while maintaining the shoe’s rounded toe and distinctive features,” Church’s said.
Other styles on view this weekend in Milan included the Poulton hiking boots, the Consul 2.0, the McEntyre LW boots and the Preston loafers.
But this new reinterpretation of the old Chetwynd classic comes as the footwear brand aims to reach a wide range of consumers. In November, Church’s released a cheerful holiday campaign that stars its most popular styles, from suede Oxford brogues to cushy velvet loafers, in a celebratory setting.
Shot in the UK at St. Giles House in Dorset, ancestral home to the 12th Earl of Shaftesbury, models are pictured riding motorcycles and dancing on tables, Sloane Ranger-style.
The brand’s seasonal celebrations come on the heels of its 50th anniversary campaign, which was released in October.
Starring British actor and “Industry” star Harry Lawtey, the campaign was shot in the 18th century country house West Wycombe House in Buckinghamshire. The home is famed for being the setting of Stanley Kubrick’s “A Clockwork Orange” and Marek Kanievska’s 1984 film “Another Country” starring Rupert Everett and Colin Firth.
The new Chetwynd Contour – available in brushed leather in black, navy blue and wood green colorways – will be on sale in stores and at church-footwear.com from April 2025.
