Adding to the already lengthy list of unique footwear silhouettes released in 2023, New York-based brand Bravest Studios is dropping a pair of bear claw-inspired mules to finish off the year.
The campy mule is comprised of textural calf hair uppers in a rich dark brown that aims at mimicking the coarse hair of a bear, accompanied by branded footbeds and sharp silver metal claws that protrude out of the toes. The mules will come packaged in a collectible fur-covered box. The silhouette is simplistic in nature, yet exceedingly outlandish when compared to your run-of-the-mill mule. The bear paw-inspired mule is set to be released via the brand’s official online store on Saturday and will retail for $110.
The footwear drop largely coincides with the ever-popular ugly shoe trend that swept the fashion and footwear landscapes in 2023. The faux fur-covered pair can be likened to similarly campy release in 2023 including MSCHF’s Big Red Boots and I Wanna Bangkok’s viral hulkfoot and bigfoot-inspired kitten heels. Each release is unique in its own right but shares a common goal of shaking up the footwear industry, making these abrasive silhouettes mainstream.

Bravest Studios is a Brooklyn-based brand that was founded in 2020, beginning as creator Andrew Xu’s passion project before evolving into a full-fledged company. Since its beginnings, Bravest Studios has gone on to collaborate with the likes of Pop Smoke and Ben Baller.
The brand stocks a wide range of apparel, accessories and footwear that pull inspiration from basketball and streetwear cultures. In the realm of footwear, Bravest Studios recently dropped clogs in “Mocha” and “Denim” colorways accompanied by paisley-printed uppers. Both colorways are currently sold out on Bravest Studios’ website. The Birkenstock-esque styles were released a month apart and marked the brand’s first proverbial steps into the footwear field.
