Ben Affleck took a pair of sneaker “grails” for a spin in Santa Monica. The actor was scouting locations, possibly for a future film. For the trip, Affleck had on a pair of Travis Scott for Nike SB “Cactus Jack” sneakers.
It’s unclear what the “Argo” star was doing exactly, but soon he will begin filming for “Accountant 2.” Affleck notably starred as Phil Knight in “Air.” He also directed the film.
The “Cactus Jack” sneaker, with its multi-print design, was first released in February 2020. Designed by Travis Scott, they feature a dark navy bandana-style paisley panel as well as a plaid panel and even a khaki toe box. The traditional Nike Swoosh logo comes on both sides of the shoe in dusty pink and black. The shoes were made available with rope-style fuzzy laces.
The shoes were extremely popular, selling out on initial release and reselling for as much as $3,400 at the time. This is up from the initial retail price of $150. The skateboarding shoes were once in a series of collaborations between Nike and Travis Scott.
Affleck is a major fan of the Nike SB Dunks style. He has been spotted in multiple collaborative versions of the silhouette. He owns a pair that was made in collaboration with Sean Cliver, dubbed the “Holiday Special,” as well as a rare pair that was created in partnership with the ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s named the “Chunky Dunky.” He also owns the “De La Soul” style, which pays tribute to the hip-hop group of the same name as well as special colorways like the “St. Patrick’s Day” and the “Celadon.”
The Dunks are a popular style in general, first launching as a basketball shoe with the Nike Dunk in 1985 before becoming a skating shoe with the Nike SB Dunk in 2002.
