Birkenstock sandals are pretty ubiquitous, with a ton of celebrities adoring the timeless style. Everyone, from supermodels to film stars to pop singers, has been spotted wearing them. Some of the cork-soled sandals’ biggest fans include Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Tracee Ellis Ross and Paris Jackson. Actress Frances McDormand even wore a pair of custom Birkenstock x Valentino Arizona sandals to the Academy Awards in February 2019. And notably, a classic brown pair worn by Steve Jobs throughout the 70s and 80s was auctioned off and sold at an astonishing $218,750 in 2022.

Available in a wide variety of iterations, the unisex sandals are offered in different materials like smooth leather and suede as well as neutral hues and bright colors. There’s also a vegan leather option, a waterproof EVA version and a shearling-lined look that’s optimal for chillier times. While the double-strap “Arizona”  — which debuted in 1973 — is the brand’s hallmark shoe, celebrities like Siena Miller and Julianne Moore have also been seen in Birkenstock’s Gizeh thong sandals. Naturally, over the years, there have also been a number of collaborations with other brands, including Rick Owens, Manolo Blahnik and Staud. Chrissy Teigen, for one, has shown off a silver metallic style — a fresh take from luxury label Proenza Schouler — on several occasions.
