For resort ’17, wedges go bold and bright. The season’s clunky shapes — which are surprisingly elegant — are offered in a variety of wearable styles, including traditional wedge heels and slightly quirkier flatforms.
Loeffler Randall led the pack with its magenta Alessa sandal. The flat silhouette and shocking color made the case that designers are playing around for spring. Equally as vibrant are Paul Andrew’s beaded jacquard wedge, Frances Valentine’s embroidered floral slide and Casadei’s two-tone evening wedge.
Indeed, quite a few labels embraced a dressier take on the wedge, too. Oscar de la Renta’s espadrille wedge with Swarovski crystals is perfectly appropriate for evening. For more of a statement party look, Charlotte Olympia’s ultra-high wedge with embellishment hits all the right notes.
