Resort ’16 sneakers are not for the timid. With punchy prints and unexpected raffia, beading and Swarovski elements, the classic style soars to new heights.
High-end brands used sneakers as a blank canvas for their respective artful touches this season. Valentino played with beading, applying it to various print,s from stars to butterflies. Brunello Cucinelli used crystal embellishment via a squiggled stitch.
Unexpected materials also made an appearance for spring. Standouts included Balenciaga’s pointed-toe runner in raffia, as well as Christian Louboutin’s low-top sneaker with a Swarovski toe cap.
For less of an in-your-face statement, there were plenty of subtle sneaker updates as well. 3.1 Phillip Lim did the Velcro runner in a denim fabric, while Louis Vuitton elevated the high-top with whipstitching and side-zipper detailing.
