When Bruno Frisoni addresses a major trend, he does it in a distinctly Roger Vivier way.
Building on the label’s success with its “Sneaky Viv” sneaker collection, the creative director is offering up casual slides for spring ’17. But the new “Slidy Viv,” unveiled today at Paris Fashion Week, is certainly not your typical Birkenstock.
The style, available in many different colors of leather, is also embellished with Vivier’s iconic details, including the signature buckle. But Frisoni went a step further, adding white guipure lace to many styles.
“Sneakers aren’t new, and they’re something we all wear. But in the summer, they are pretty warm, and I think slides are [fitting],” Frisoni said. “So I tried to make ours Vivier — with the combination of the materials, the buckles and a new last. It was a way to accessorize a summer style and make it cool.”

Also in the spotlight this season: the embellished Podium heel, which was inspired by a Vivier design from the 1960s. “I reinterpreted it as a chunkier and wider heel,” Frisoni said. The Podium style sandal comes in two heights, 70 and 90 millimeters.
Another key standout: the skin guipure material, laser cut with water. It stood out most on vertiginous boots and the Podium sandals.
