The Shoes at Acne Studios Had the Vibe of a Moroccan Souk

For spring ’17, Acne creative director Jonny Johansson was thinking considerably warmer climates than his native Sweden on Saturday at Paris Fashion Week.

He developed last season’s babouche slipper into high-heeled Byzantine mules with pointed toes and ankle straps.

Moccasins were another take on the theme and came embellished with jewels and studs with additional backless slide versions in paisley prints matching the RTW fabrics.

Most interesting, though, were a more Northern European slant, closer to the label’s geographical roots. Pumps printed to resemble the grain of wood featured a sinuous curved sole — “like the arm of a chair,” according to the show notes — and proving a cleaner, architectural foil for their loucher counterparts.
