In just a few seasons, Sonia Rykiel’s Julie de Libran is both reinventing and reviving signature Rykiel-isms. The footwear at the Resort ’16 presentation was no exception, with the designer referencing the seventies glory days of the house via chunky shapes in a vivid palette. Think: disco platforms in dragon green and shocking pink, blocky pumps and crisscross sandals, all produced by Robert Clergerie.
The era is a current favorite for today’s fashion flock, but here the trend swung less Laurel Canyon bohemian, more Left Bank bourgeois.
A smattering of silver embellishment on the the platform styles and satin finishes added evening élan, whether worn with a knit two-piece look, or, as a winning counterpart to Rykiel’s covetable new wide leg jeans and sailor-style denims. Just add stripes.
