Frances Valentine Fall 2016 Women’s Shoe Collection

After debuting Frances Valentine‘s first collection for spring ’16, Kate Spade — who now goes by Kate Valentine — and her husband, Andy, are back with new women’s shoes for fall.

The latest collection includes a wide range of made-in-Italy styles, ranging from $295 to $845. Highlights include tweed slingbacks with leather cap toes, rounded-toe Mary Janes and embossed leather Chelsea boots in a snakeskin print.

On the flats front, there are suede driving mocs and sneakers with neon piping. Pointy flats have stripes or polka dots and are offered in slingback and ankle-strap silhouettes. Tasseled loafers were given a feminine twist in metallics.

The couple began Frances Valentine last season with a few of their former Kate Spade colleagues as well as business partners Paola Venturi, formerly of Via Spiga, and Elyce Arons. The brand’s current roster of retailers include Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Shopbop.

We asked Valentine three questions about the new collection:

What was the focus this season?

“The focus was on mixing materials, a simple modern patchwork. All of the details can stand alone but fused together make an interesting shoe. We used a lot of our favorite materials like shiny metallics, animal-printed hair calf and glitter. We have a lot of boots in this collection. Fur boots, patent, animal-printed hair calf and wool plaids mixed with boar-skin colors.”

Do you have a favorite style?

“The Marybeth 100mm chunky-heel shoe in suede with a mink pom-pom. The Marnie ankle boot in giraffe-printed hair calf, with our signature geodesic dome heel in red. And lastly, the Katy Mary Jane with 35mm heel in black patent with a soft white leather strap.”

You made store appearances in your hometown in Missouri this week. How was that?

“I love going back to Kansas City and to [the department store] Halls. They have always been such big supporters and we had an incredible turnout at the personal appearance last week. They have such wonderful, loyal customers. I want to get out and interact with the sales associates and the customers about Frances Valentine.”
