Spring ’17 shall usher in some serious sweater weather at Casa Fendi.
At Milan Fashion Week, designers Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi presented a footwear lineup that featured knitted sock uppers, built to complement the collection’s pointelle sweaters. Midcalf resembled athletic tube socks (albeit very luxe ones complete with intarsia and sweet striping), while sneaker styles had grosgrain ribbon lacing.
The shoes matched the clothing’s girlish details and playful proportions. They also called to mind the purposely trashy version Vetements has been doing lately. The cozy effect — a little Swiss Miss, a little sport — was fetching.
