Converse released a comprehensive list of its ins and outs for 2024.
In honor of the new year, the footwear brand shared a few style forecasts for this year ahead in a funky graphic posted to Converse’s official Instagram on Friday. To put this list into simpler terms, “ins” constitute anything that the brand believes will be in style in 2024 in the footwear landscape while “outs” refer to things Converse wants to leave in 2023.
Starting off with the iconic canvas sneaker brands ins, Converse pointed to having fun with laces, customizing footwear, dressing for your mood, thick platforms and embracing knee-high styles.
As for the outs, Converse listed off denying yourself some “razzle dazzle,” stealing shoes on the first date in reference to the infamous 2023 Tabi theif, leaving your favorite styles untouched on the shoe rack, gatekeeping the best sneaker collaborations and limiting yourself to just one aesthetic.
Sharing ins and outs is a common practice for many, especially as we enter the new year. It emphasizes the importance of change and embracing new things. Many brands and institutions use this idea to predict trends for the year to come, acting as a sort of unofficial trend forecast. While real trend forecasting is based on data gathered by professionals, these ins and outs provide a low-commitment way for everyone to share their opinions. The pseudo-trend is increasingly popular among the Gen-Z crowd on TikTok. In fact, The hashtag “ins and outs of 2024” has a whopping 469.2K videos underneath it.
