Brazilian footwear brand Melissa has teamed up with Spanish fashion brand Bimba Y Lola for its latest collaboration.
According to the Grendene Global Brands-owned footwear brand, the new collection consists of a capsule of three jelly fisherman sandals and four bags. The sandals are a reinterpretation of Melissa’s iconic Possession model, and are available in three colors: iridescent blue, salmon and black.
As for the bags, Melissa and Bimba Y Lola are launching a multifunctional basket for the market, beach or anything else in between. Inspired by the Bimba Y Lola archive, the new basket bag is available in black, lime green, pink and blue.
To highlight the new tie-up, the duo tapped model Gabriela Brooks and photographer Hedvig Jenning to bring the summer-centric capsule to life.

The exclusive capsule will be available in the U.S. on Bimba Y Lola’s e-commerce store, Melissa’s e-commerce and at select stores on June 20.
This new collaboration comes just weeks after Melissa launched another tie-up with Marc Jacobs featuring a collection of shiny silver platforms, jelly flats and modern mules. It follows their first collaboration, which launched last June.
Melissa’s recent collab roster also includes a second drop of its release with Japanese streetwear brand Undercover. The release featured the new Patty Stone mule in three colorways and Royal High platform loafers in four colorways.
Melissa’s busy slate of collaborations comes after the brand opened its fourth U.S. store earlier this year. In April, the company opened the doors to a new 1,197-sq.-ft. store inside the Baybrook Mall in Houston, Texas. This latest location joins Melissa’s other U.S. stores in Aventura, Fla; Sunrise, Fla; and San Diego, Calif.
Founded in 1979, Melissa is best known for its Possession jelly fisherman sandal. The shoe reached a pop culture high in the 1990s, and parent company Grendene has continued to evolve the silhouette, especially to meet its overall sustainability goals.
In an interview with FN in July, Carlos Andre Carvalho, sustainability manager at Grendene, said that the Brazilian footwear brand, which is entirely vegan, is further investing in its sustainable practices across its product offering, especially its best-selling Possession sandal.
This store growth and focus on sustainability was made possible by the 2021 joint venture between Grendene and 3G Radar, an independent investment company, with the mission to create accelerated brand growth globally.
The new entity, called Grendene Global Brands, draws on 3G Radar’s business management expertise and Grendene’s manufacturing capabilities to handle the production and operations of its roster of brands, which include Melissa and Mini Melissa, Ipanema, Rider, Cartago, Zaxy, Grendha, Pega Forte and Grendene Kids.
